A Note from the President

Things are getting busy!  We have so many events coming down the pike to not only celebrate our 20th Anniversary but several ribbon cuttings and grand openings to celebrate new businesses as they are popping up everywhere.  These are exciting times.

I want to take this time to personally thank all of YOU for your contributions to making our association a great one.  You are the “B” in MABA….the businesses and you are at the heart of what we do.  We want to do whatever we can to bring additional value to you, our members, as we continue to grow.  Thank you for attending our monthly meetings, bringing guests, attending our events and supporting new businesses by attending their ribbon cutting celebrations.  And, on top of it all you continue to contribute financially to our fundraisers allowing us to provide scholarships for professional development to our members and to give back to the community through grants to our local non-profits.

As a MABA member in particular, I want to remind you to take advantage of the opportunity the Joan Smith Memorial Fund offers you.  The fund is meant to assist you if you are taking a course, going to a conference, purchasing software or any other activity you are doing to advance yourself or your business professionally.  Several of our members have used the fund for conferences and training.  But, we want more of you to do so.  The process is simple.  Fill out the application and the review Board will respond quickly to your request.  We do ask that you allow a 30 day time frame from when you need the funding to register for your event.  Put your 50/50 Raffle contributions to good use….YOU!

Another way to increase your involvement in MABA is serving on the Board.   The MABA Board Election process is underway.  Please consider nominating someone including yourself to serve.  The Board meets the 3rd Thursday of the month from 7:30 am to 9:00 am at Dusty’s Bordeaux Room in Okemos.   It is a three year term.  Our Board members serve on committees as Co-chairs and liaisons. 

Get ready for next month….at the meeting we will hear from our Board nominees and we will focus our attention to upcoming MABA awards.  Please come and be a part of this important conversation.
